“Understanding human needs, climate issues, and building performances is a common aspiration for the AEC (The architecture, engineering and construction) industry. The wish is to create sustainable solutions that stem from a strong desire to design spaces for social and democratic cooperation.
An energy driven and multi-layered understanding of architecture and the building envelopes are critical to building design. This places the production processes and building performance at the forefront, and explores energy efficiency and indoor climate as integral aspects of the architectural experience.
Through two case studies, the architectural implications of technological advancements in envelope design will be analysed. How can novel solutions be applied to small-scale projects while still creating value for stakeholders, as well as serving as a testbed, due to the reduced turnaround time compared to larger projects, therefore leading to the faster iteration of technological developments?”
