Iona, P&O’s latest and most sustainable cruise ship features a spectacular new entertainment venue, the SkyDome. The 41m long, 29m wide and 4m high glass-domed roof gives uninterrupted views of the sky, the sea and the shoreline. The structure is the first of its kind to be installed on a cruise ship, breaking new boundaries in the ocean liner industry.
Hear how structural engineers Eckersley O’Callaghan used parametric digital design tools to optimise the dome’s structure, minimise weight and design it to take some of the world’s most extreme weather events. The event was joined by special guest Lucy Norton from P&O Cruises who will give the client’s perspective on how the dome will open up the night sky.
