Some of the worlds most talented architectural photographers were nominated for photograph of the year at the Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards 2017 which took place at the World Architecture Festival in Berlin last week.
From a museum nestled in the mountains of South Tyrol to a bespoke chapel in South Africa, the world of architecture and photography were blown away by the beauty that was created by the designers and those that captured their work.
The shortlist was selected by a panel of judges that included Royal Academy of Arts curator Kate Goodwin, Klein Dytham Architecture founders Mark Dytham and Astrid Klein, photographers Richard Bryant and Matt Emmett, and designer Andrew Chen.
The winning images not only captured the aesthetics of different architecture and space, but also went beyond recording the images by telling stories about the meaningful built environments
The annual award selects photographs in four categories – Exterior, Interior, Sense of Place, and Building in Use. A selection of the shortlisted entries will also feature in an exhibition at Sto Werkstatt, London, in 2018.
