Towards a net-positive future, ‘regenerative design’ calls for a rethink to the way we design and construct the built environment to improve societal resilience, restore planetary health and regenerate ecological systems.
Over half of the global population live in cities, which consume 75% of natural resources and produce 50% of global waste. To progress towards regenerative design and systems for our planet, we will need to figure out how to design for all species whilst respecting planetary boundaries and utilising science-based targets.
In February 2020, Arup’s Foresight team as part of their Arup Explores series brought together industry experts to explore the rational for regenerative design across the built environment.
