The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library in Dubai opened its doors to the public in June 2022, showcasing high performing and sustainable solutions from 7 Saint-Gobain brands.
Along the Dubai Creek Bank, in Al Jaddaf, the United Arab Emirates welcome a new building whose shape tells its function: this open book of 54,000 square meters is the new Mohammed Bin Rashid Library. It houses more than 4 million books and hosts laboratories to preserve the collections.
Designed by the Architectural Consultancy Group (ACG), the 7-storeys project features the latest technologies and the finest materials, and numerous brands of the Group are part of it.
Saint-Gobain UAE supplied 6,000 square meters of SageGlass® LightZone which makes up 72% of the project’s total glass elevation. It is used in curtain wall of the main library reading areas, office and meeting rooms to boost comfort of the occupants in the library with precise control of daylight, glare and heat, but also enhances interior color rendering with its intelligent daylight management technology.
5,500 square meters of glazing solutions COOL-LITE XTREME 50-22 II from Saint-Gobain Glass were also used in the library. It features an extremely selective solar control coating which enhanced the energy criteria requirements.
Solar Gard UV blocking, dual reflective film was installed on the project to reduce heat transmission. All wall linings, partitions and ceilings including 60 minutes Fire-Rated solutions from Gyproc were used ensuring safety and comfort of the visitors. Other Internal solutions included plasters, flooring solutions and rush coats from Weber. Fire-Rated glass Contraflam Lite Standup from Vetrotech was used in the 500-seat theatre to ensure acoustic comfort in addition to fire performance.
KIMMCO-ISOVER supplied its HVAC and building insulation solutions as part of dry lining systems for acoustic comfort.
Thanks to the solutions of 7 of the Group’s brands, this new generation Library is aiming to achieve LEED Platinum rating.
